What to Expect
Whether you move often or are a long term Sumter resident, we know trying new churches can be a difficult process. We've polled some of our newer attendees/members to see what kinds of things they look for when trying to find a new church home. Here are some of the common themes that came up. Please don't hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.
At 11:00, we have a contemporary style of worship with a mix of contemporary music. It ranges from what you might here on, KLOVE or other Christian radio stations to contemporary praise and even a contemporary spins on classic hymns. The youth praise band also leads worship 1 to 2 times a month. Dress is casual...whatever you are comfortable in.
The 8:30 service is our traditional service and consists of more Hymns played in the traditional style.
The message is identical at both services and has about 150-200 regular attendees between the two worship services.
Out of every dollar received by Harmony Church, a minimum 25% goes to local and worldwide missions. Harmony members are actively involved in reaching out to our local jails and prisons.
There are many opportunities for members to be involved in these ministries.
Harmony Youth Group (HYG) is involved in various activities during the year. More information on the youth group can be found at the HYG page.
There are Sunday school classes available for all ages, starting at 9:45.
Nursery care is provided for infants up to 5 years old.
Children's Church for 5, 6, and 7 year olds starts after worship in music is completed in the service.
Sumter Area Family Educators (S.A.F.E.)
SAFE meets at Harmony during the traditional school semesters on Tuesday mornings. There are a number of home school families that attend Harmony. More information on SAFE can be found here.
Sunday School Classes
There are various adult Sunday school classes available. The class topics vary and include book studies, topical studies and others.
Specific class topics, teachers and locations can be found HERE.
Our head pastor, Dan Keaton, brings the message most Sundays. Associate Pastor, Lee Brown, preaches roughly once a month.
Teaching is strictly from the Bible, either verse by verse or topical studies.
No specific translation is endorsed by Harmony Church nor are "Invitations" typically given at the end of each service.
In order to really connect with others, we encourage participation in small groups. Our community groups meet in homes, restaurants and at the church. You can find more info here.
