*100% trust yields 100% peace*
Trust is the foundation of all human connection. It is believing that the person you put your trust in will do what is expected of them or promised. The reason we have such a hard time trusting each other is because we do not always follow through with what we say, often breaking the trust we have with people. If we go back to the beginning and look at how God designed us to live, we see that trust was not a question. In the Garden of Eden, Adam trusted God to take care of him. Man, never wondered if he had enough, he simply trusted GOD to provide for him and Eve. The question of trust never came into play because GOD designed the world to trust HIM and GOD is always reliable. It was only after sin entered the world and Eve questioned GOD that the trust issues started. Although, even when we question GOD’s trust, GOD still takes care of us, just as he did Adam and Eve. It wasn’t always as easy as when they were in the Garden, but he never left them. As humans, we long to live a life full of contentment and ease. We strive for peace through conflicts as close as in our own home and as far away as foreign relations will allow. Most people in this world, are looking for the peace that Adam must have felt in the Garden, but their actions of trust do not give them the results they so long for. To receive peace in GOD you must trust GOD even if you do not like the outcome.
Our view of GOD should be so massive that we should trust him just because he says so, but so often we put conditions on that trust. We try to makes deals in pray and barter with the creator of the universe saying, “if you give me this… I will trust you.” How absurd are we, that we think we can put such demands on the creator of the cosmos? We dare to pray with “if’s” asking for things because we think we deserve them. Things like: GOD, I will trust you IF you answer this prayer. GOD, I will trust you IF you put my marriage back together. GOD, I will trust you IF you heal me. The simple fact is that we are 100% secure in Christ, but we as humans disconnect ourselves when we stop trusting. It’s like unplugging the lamp from the wall. The outlet on the wall will never let go, but we unplug based on the preference of how bright we want the light to be in our room that day. We should always pray plugged into the wall saying, “God I will trust you EVEN IF you do not give me what I want because I do not deserve any of what you give.”
The overall promise between the Old Testament and the New Testament is that fact that if your mind is steadfast on the LORD you will have peace in your heart. (Isaiah 26:3) Jesus explains plainly that we belong to HIM. He states that we are like sheep and sheep know the voice of their shepherd. Thus, we never have to wonder if he is speaking to us because if we seek after HIM, we WILL hear HIM. (Matthew 7:7-8) Jesus explains in John 10:25-30 that “no one will snatch them out of my hand.” He actually states it twice, in every translation. The fact that Jesus states something twice, should be a main que for us to listen. Our God loves us so much that HE won’t let anyone take us away from HIS eternity. When we look at GOD as a set apart force in our life and keep HIM out of the comparison of humans, that’s where we can truly not help, but trust HIM with everything. Humans will always let us down, but Jesus states that “no one will snatch us away from the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” This is where our peace lives, this is where our steadfast minds need to stay daily. (Isaiah 26:3) Our entire life, we have been striving to get back to the Garden and have what Adam had with GOD, in beginning, when things were simpler. Although, if we really look at it, GOD has been there from the beginning, holding a sign, trying to grab our attention away from the world to explain to us that our peace lies in conjunction with our trust in HIM. Our 100% trust in GOD will always yield 100% peace, it’s just simple.
